Traffic Counts: Local TT Courses

Many of you will be aware of recent changes to our sport, and the changing legal environment we live in. This has brought the need for Risk Assessments to the fore. All London West District Time Trial courses in use now have Risk Assessments in place and the need to comply with these should not be underrated. The LWDC committee are only too aware of the extra work this has placed on all clubs, particularly in placing warning signs at strategic points on the course. We also recognise that the need for, and content of, risk assessments remains a subject of debate, although CTT Guidance is relatively clear on the subject.

CTT Guidance Note 9 relating to Traffic Counts states the need to perform counts to provide evidence that the course is safe to use. Traffic counts are mandated and the Board of Directors of CTT may request Traffic Count figures from an event organiser or the LWDC.

Accordingly Oxonian CC has been asked to carry out traffic counts as follows, so we need volunteers to assist with this in addition to marshalling duties. Ideally where a count in both directions is required we need two persons. Anyone volunteering will receive League points as if they were marshalling, and as with marshalling please click on the Volunteer link on the Club TT program page of the website.

It is proposed to carry out the H25/17 Cumnor 25 count during the Open event on Sunday 7th July, and similarly the H10/17R Southmoor 10 count during the Open event on Saturday 14th July. Other counts will be carried out during the relevant club event. A full guide will be provided for each volunteer.
