The Rotary Club of Banbury Cherwell runs the annual Broughton Castle Sportive, which is a cycling event to generate funds for various charities. Cyclists cover one of 5 routes from 5 to 100 miles, starting and ending in the grounds of Broughton Castle, near Banbury by kind permission of Lord Saye and Sele, and Martin Fiennes (who normally rides in the event).

They have been organising this event for 9 years and have raised in excess of £80,000 for local charities and our past donation list includes Cyclists Fighting Cancer, Katharine House Hospice, Dogs for Good, Thames Valley Ambulance, Banbury Scouting Association, Leonard Cheshire Agnes Court Home in Banbury, plus many smaller donations to local charities. We plan to continue this level of donation subject to entries, costs, and weather!

Broughton Castle Sportive 2022 is being planned to take place in July starting and finishing in the grounds of the picturesque Broughton Castle, Banbury. As mentioned above, a number of charities are being supported along with other smaller charitable organisations to which fund raising has been severely affected by Covid and other cost cutting exercises.

An overview of the Broughton Castle Sportive is on our website https://www.broughtoncastlesportive.co.uk/,

Our primary charity targets in the 2022 Rotary Year are:

• Cyclists Fighting Cancer https://www.cyclistsfc.org.uk/

• Leonard Cheshire Agnes Court Home

• Banbury Scouting Association

• Radio Horton Hospital Radio

Your support would be greatly appreciated. We would also like to extend an invitation to your club to enter a team to ride in the event, enjoy a great day out and take part in a challenging ride through the Cotswolds.

We look forward to hearing from you.
