Nine Oxonians and two second claim members competed in this team event on Bank Holiday Monday which dawned sunny and dry following Sunday’s deluge, but with a strong headwind out to the turn on the A420 Cumnor to Faringdon course, making for a difficult run to the turn for the sixty plus starters. The Leiden Plaque is run as a handicap event with the accumulated times of the fastest four first claim on handicap counting towards the trophy. The results were (hrs, mins, secs):
1) BMCC – 2:37:48
2) BSCC – 2:50:11
3) OXCC – 2:56:30
4) MCCC – 3:02:40
5) DPCC – 3:04:19
6) CRCCC- 3:06:13
Not only was this third place for Oxonian CC, but Mike Lloyd also took third place on handicap in the individual competition. Thanks to Bicester Millenium CC for organising this year’s event, and hopefully Oxonians can be in with a chance in 2019 when Cowley Road Condors will be organising.
