2018 TT Program: Important Notice

Now that the above has been announced on this website, doubtless all keen time-trialists are planning which events they want to ride. However we no longer have the luxury of a permanent TT Secretary who was able to devote Wednesday afternoons and the occasional early Sunday morning to organising and running the TT program. In the absence of any member volunteering to take on the role of TT secretary, and continue Anna’s excellent work of the past four years we need to have a rethink. Also with increasing restrictions and safety rules it is felt that this is now unreasonable to expect one person to cover this.  Accordingly we are looking for a pool of volunteers to help with this. Broadly the tasks and responsibilities break down as follows:
1) Driving the course to check for unannounced road works and other obstacles (ie a safety check), and positioning the warning and direction signs prior to the event.Ensure that race marshals are in place.
2) Competitor sign on, collection of monies, sign-on of day members if numbers allow, and liaising with timekeepers for timing sheets, Ideally this individual should take the role of “Responsible Person” which means that in the event of an accident involving a rider you will need to complete the appropriate Cycling Time Trials paperwork and liaise with the public and police if involved.
3) Post event collection of signs, and ensuring monies are passed to a committee member (several take part in the TTs), and that the results are posted to the club’s website.
Ideally two/three people could cover each event, so the intention is to establish a schedule of people for running each event, You may for example elect to assist at a course that is convenient to you, minimising travel and on a date that suits. Please be assured that anyone stepping up will given all the necessary assistance and guidance.
I am meeting with representatives of Mid Oxon, OCRC and Fairly United on Friday 16th February at which we will agree which club is running each event. I would like to have a degree of certainty by then of which events we can cover.
Until we have a team of volunteers in place to run the events, you cannot expect to turn up as usual and for the event to “just happen”. If we are unable to run any event then we will advise via Facebook, the website and Twitter.
If you feel you can assist please choose from the TT Program  and email myself or Paul Warren stating which event(s)  you would prefer, and we will put together a schedule.
